It is unfortunate that most people are only familiar with Greyhound tracks because if they could see the other end of the spectrum, the amateurs meeting in fields participating in one of the oldest rituals of human culture... "my dog's faster than yours", they would start to understand the great joy these hounds experience by chasing after prey. You will find many different breeds and sizes from Italian Greyhounds to Irish Wolfhounds running in these competitions. LGRA or the Large Gazehound Racing Association and NOTRA the National Oval Track Racing Association offers the owners of these unique sighthounds the opportunity to allow their hounds to do just exactly what they were bred to do... chase game... though our current competitions use a lure on a mechanical pulley to entice the hounds to run rather than the live game of yesteryear.
