I highly doubt the swine flu will turn into an "I am legend" type scenario, but we should be prepared for the swine flu either way. Depending solely on a thin paper mask for your salvation is more than a little silly. It's time to start altering your lifestyle and social habits. That's the start of preparing for this and it moves forward from there. You need to have adequate preps in place to quarantine for 2 weeks to a month if necessary. If this truly does take off, you will not be able to go along with your normal life as nothing has happened. I am NOT trying to make any judgement calls on specific treatments, etc. Proper health and a good immune system will go a long way in protecting you from the flu. I wanted to get something up quickly as this has started spreading more rapidly in the last few days. This is NOT meant to be an end all be all but simply a primer on preparing for biological warfare type problems. Pray, spend some time in prayer, gird your body, soul and mind for this. Hopefully it will turn out to be just more drama (I don't think it's going to be a true TSHTF type scenario), but we should be prepared for it irregardless. One thing I've had a problem with on youtube is the amount of flak I have received from liberals because I mentioned in earlier videos that we had to use pesticide on some fruit trees in order to SAVE THE TREES. Now I thought liberals were all about "saving trees", but evidently me spraying some fruit trees that did in fact save the trees and correct the problem, put me up there with the anti christ in the liberals mind! You see, many of those types of people don't actually DO anything, they have just read an article that says that it's better for the earth, etc. etc. I had one person tell me that if you EVER used ANY commercial fertilizer on your soil (i.e, 10-10-10 ) it will FOREVER make your soil where NOTHING can live in it... I'm serious, he said this. Now how the heck those earthworms shown in the video could be living is beyond me! As that area had tomatoes there and 10-10-10 was applied there last fall. You see, most liberals do not actually live their beliefs. They talk a good talk, and tell you that YOU should do such and such but they RARELY do anything. They talk about saving the earth but drive huge gas guzzling SUV's. They talk about starvation in the world, but then they only plant flowers in their yards. They cry over the loss of an Orca whale, but condone the murder of unborn children. And now idjits with this same mentality are in control of government. Lord help us please. We recently attended a public festival demonstrating some of these "old school" skills. This second part shows some blacksmithing. Later parts will cover candlemaking, sugar cane and other homesteading/pioneer type skills. In these videos we toured the festival and talked with some of the folks demonstrating these skills. With some of these people we had to kind of "lead" them into talking about the skills via asking obvious questions, etc. Some were really helpful and interested in talking about the skills, a few were downright rude. As your watching this, consider the amount of TIME involved with certain tasks- like putting up a year supply of firewood. In this first video we show them using a crosscut saw and a Bucksaw. It would take you probably weeks to put up a year supply of firewood with these methods. Now it's important to know these skills and even have of these old school tools and implements, but don't throw away your chainsaws! Matter of fact, you should take a hard look at your chainsaws and resulting logistics train (spare parts, extra bar, extra chains, files, preserved fuel, fuel mix, bar/chain oil, etc.) after watching this once you realize that you could put up as much wood in probably a DAY that it would take a WEEK or more to put up with hand tools! I'm all for learning these skills and we practice a lot of these skills regularly, but I also think it's important to stockpile a pile of cheap soap (Ivory 16 bars $3.). This will help you to avoid shortages as some recently have experienced in the Southeast. In a true SHTF situation, you are going to need gasoline for many things including: vehicles (if still working), chainsaws, tillers, lawnmowers (yep your still going to have to mow every so often to keep down fire hazards and to cut down on possible concealed entry corridors), generators, water pumps, log splitters, etc. Left by itself, gasoline typically has problems in a fairly short period of time. It must be properly treated and put in good quality storage containers. Do NOT trust your gas to the cheapie red plastic cans from walmart. I personally would be leery of using any plastic containers to store gas LONG TERM, but that's just me. Sit down and think about how much gas you use in a year around your homestead or survival retreat.
